Nigerian police on Tuesday released the names of two women they say kidnapped a man in the coastal city of Maiduguri.
The women are believed to be in their early 30s, and their ages have not been released, a police spokesman said.
Authorities also said the man’s wife and two children were kidnapped in the same incident.
The incident occurred about 3:15 p.m.
Tuesday, the police spokesman told The Associated Press.
Local police and national police are investigating the case.
More than 40 women, most of them younger than 20, were abducted in Maidugur city over the weekend, according to the police.
Some of the women have told investigators they were abducted by a man who asked for a car, a cellphone and a wedding ring.
The suspects have been identified as Ismail Amadou, 28, and his wife, Fadela Amadoulou, 26.
In the days since the abduction, police have released photos of Amadous wife and the two children, and said they are safe.
The Amadoses, who are in their 20s, have not yet been identified.
